CLUB HISTORY

Adelaide Cruisin’ Classics is a young but rapidly growing motoring enthusiasts social club, focusing as much on social interests as it does on automobiles and motorcycles.

Born from an idea back in February 2016, when two of the founding members were asked to arrange a “show and shine” for the Port Rocks Music Festival, plans quickly came together when it became apparent that there was a desperate need for a modern, inclusive, socially oriented all makes, all models club, that catered not only for veteran, vintage and classic cars, but also for motorcycles, commercial vehicles, street rods and customs as well as vintage caravans.

A couple of well supported public meetings were called to gauge the level of interest, and this quickly led to the formation of an organising team, tasked with creating the foundations, by building a vision and Constitution. By this time the club had a total of 20 members.

Early in 2017 the club formally incorporated and became a member of the Federation of Historic Motoring Clubs of SA, which opened up access to the SA Club Registration Scheme for the members.

By June 2017, membership had grown to 73, and the word was spreading rapidly, that this was a no-fuss, fun club to be a part of.

Along side this, the club continued with its other major focus, the creation and organisation of a range of social events, designed to encourage community involvement, at the same time helping to promote historic motoring.

Since it’s formation, the club has run a number high-profile events, and there are always a number in the planning stages.

Of course, the club also organises smaller gatherings in the form of social activities and club cruises, the latter of which attract 100+ vehicles.

The club members have a passion for the post-war period, through mid-century to the 1980’s, and membership is welcomed from anyone with similar interests, whether or not they own a vehicle or bike.

Now, with over 1100 members, and showing no signs of slowing down, it’s encouraging to know that the original vision for the club was absolutely spot-on, and to keep one thing in mind … “We’re run by the members, for the members, and we’re in it for fun!”..
